About Me

Some might say I started late in creating art (mid to late 30’s), I say that I’m blessed to be doing my art for 30 years!

I started exploring this passion of mine while I had a career with a major medical manufacturer in administrative work for 25 years.  While I liked my career, I felt I wanted something more.  So, while working part time managing contracts for the Marketing Division, I went to The College of New Jersey and received a BA in Art Education and certification to teach art K-12.  I became an educator and pursued my love of art and igniting the passion of art in others.

I was born in PA, but have lived most of my life in New Jersey, with a brief stop over in Arizona and currently reside in the bayshore region of Central Jersey.  Keyport, NJ is a quaint bayshore town with local antique shops, beautiful views of New York and Brooklyn, and amazing residents who add to the small town feel of the community.

Spirit Art

Though I am retired from the formal education system, I am not a retired teacher.  I spent 12 years as an art educator and today I still hold classes throughout my area.  I’ve had two solo shows in Ocean County, NJ, exhibited in shows and fairs across the state for the last 25 years and I regularly set up booths at pop-up events along the Jersey shore.

I love my life!

I call my art Spirit Art because I feel the talent and opportunity I was blessed with is a spiritual gift and it is my hope that my work will inspire, enrich and touch the spirit of others.

In addition to my watercolor work, I’ve recently started in acrylics, but I also have worked with clay doing pottery and other three dimensional art.  Most of the work you’ll find in my catalog is abstract but I am fully capable of realism, however, with abstract art I find the surprises in the work when finished and it is an exciting journey that goes beyond the process of creating.  I try to convey my energy in most of my pieces with powerful strokes and vibrant colors with a wet on wet technique, and I am in the moment when I am creating.

The time it takes to complete a work from the very first idea or inspiration to the end result varies, I don’t necessarily say I want to finish a piece within a certain timeframe, I let my spirit guide me and my technique bring the work to life.  I’d say my work is inspired by design and nature, but life is beautiful and anything can be inspiring.
